Privacy policy
Last updated 2 November 2026
- Lumen has no ads, no analytics and no tracking.
- Everything you do in Lumen stays on your device unless you sign in to a Lumen account to sync it.
- Your Real-Debrid and other streaming service keys never leave your device, except to reach those services.
- You can delete your Lumen account and everything saved in it from the app at any time.
This policy covers the Lumen apps for Windows, Android and Samsung TV, the optional Lumen account, and this website. Lumen is a free app made by an independent developer. It doesn't host or provide any video: it plays what your own addons and services find.
What stays on your device
Your addons, profiles, My List, watch history and resume points, settings, and the keys or sign-ins for services you connect (such as Real-Debrid, TorBox, Easynews or MyAnimeList) are saved on the device you use. Where the system offers it, keys and sign-ins are stored encrypted. Nothing here is sent to the developer.
The Lumen account (optional)
You can use Lumen without an account. If you create one, it is run on Google Firebase (Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore).
- Signing in: with an email address and password, or with Google. Google sign-in only asks for your name, email address and profile picture (the openid, email and profile permissions), which are used to identify your account.
- What is synced: your profiles, My List, watch history and resume points, and settings, so they match on every device you sign in on.
- Your addons are encrypted on your device with your sync PIN before they are uploaded. The developer can't read them.
- Not synced: your Real-Debrid and other service keys, and data that only belongs to one device.
- Signing in on a TV uses a short code that is deleted as soon as the TV has used it, or after 10 minutes.
- Only you can read your account's data; the database rules allow access to its owner only.
Services Lumen talks to
To show and play titles, Lumen connects directly from your device to these services. Each one receives what it needs for the request, such as the title being looked up, and your IP address, and is covered by its own privacy policy:
- The addons and plugins you add, and the debrid or Usenet services you connect, to find and play streams.
- TMDB, Cinemeta, Kitsu and AniList for posters, descriptions, ratings, cast and episode lists.
- MyAnimeList or AniList, only if you connect them, to read or update your anime list.
- AniSkip to find intros and endings to skip.
- Subtitle addons such as OpenSubtitles, to find subtitles.
- YouTube (its privacy-enhanced youtube-nocookie.com player) for trailers.
- PeerJS to connect devices for Watch together. Only playback position and play/pause are shared; each person plays video from their own sources.
- GitHub to check for and download app updates.
- Discord, only if the Discord app is open on your PC: Lumen tells your own Discord app what you are watching (the title and episode) or that you are browsing, so it shows on your profile. You can turn this off in Settings › Playback, and it is never shown on kids profiles. Lumen doesn't contact Discord's servers for this itself.
- Your Roku or Samsung TV on your home network, when you use Play on TV.
This website
This site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, uses Google Fonts for its typefaces, and asks GitHub which version to offer for download. It sets no cookies and has no analytics.
Children
Lumen offers kids profiles that only show titles up to a chosen age rating. Lumen accounts are not meant for children under 13, and the developer does not knowingly collect their information.
Keeping and deleting your data
Account data is kept until you delete it. To delete your account and everything saved in it, open Settings › Account › Delete account in Lumen. Data on your device is removed when you uninstall Lumen or clear its data.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
